The UP Roadways has decided to run 195 buses everyday between Prayagraj and Vindhyachal during Sharadiya Navratri. This has been done keeping in mind the famous Navratri Mela at Vindhyachal where lakhs of devotees reach to have ‘darshan’ of Maa Vindhyawasini.

This special bus service which will start from October 14 will continue till October 23.

Arrangements have been made ensure availability of Vindhyachal bus after every half an hour from Zero Road bus stand. During this period as many as 130 buses will leave everyday for Vindhyachal from Prayagraj zone and 65 from Varanasi zone. Besides this Prayagraj zone will run 25 special buses for Mirzapur while Varanasi zone will run 40 such buses.

PANIC BUTTON TO BE INSTALLED: The UPSRTC has planned to instal panic button in ordinary buses. As many as 50 such buses will soon come here. This will help in curbing eve-teasing in the buses. If a woman travelling in ordinary buses feels insecure or being bothered by eve-teasers, then she just has to press the panic button installed in the bus. The process of installing panic buttons in ordinary buses is starting for the first time.

There is a preparation to instal panic buttons in a total of 650 buses of the state in which 50 buses will be given to Prayagraj region. This will increase the safety of women.

Regional Manager of Roadways Prayagraj MK Trivedi said a command centre will be set up at the Transport Corporation headquarters for monitoring the panic button. Staff will be present here, 24 -hour monitoring will be done. If a woman presses a panic button in the bus, then the police will be informed along with the  officials concerned of the Transport Department. The police will reach that bus within some time.

Live tracking devices will also be installed in these buses through which it will be easily known where the bus concerned is. Information about bus route, bus timing, vacant seat etc will be on the lines of trains.
