The passengers of 12872 Titlagarh-to-Howrah Ishpat Express on Thursday had a providential escape when a power bank (mobile charger), being charged by some passenger suddenly exploded creating panic and a small fire inside the D7 coach of the running train.
Fortunately for the passengers the train had just passed the Banstala station on its way to Kharagpur when the incident occurred prompting the passengers to pull the chain and stop it.
While the passengers poured water on the plug point which had caught fire “soon the railway staff from Banstala reached the spot with fire extinguishers and put out the flames,” sources said adding there was no injury.
