As part of the initiative to protect our heritage, Kajari Mahotsav is being organised on the grounds of BLJ Inter College on September 2 evening. Such announcement was made by District Magistrate Divya Mittal while interacting with the media at the Collectorate on Tuesday. The DM said the State Cultural department had for the programme made available the fund to protect our heritage and promote tourism in the district. She said a Kajari memorial had been constructed with the people’s contribution at Ram Chandra Shukla Park which was one of the entry points of the town and it will be dedicated to the public by Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Anupriya Patel at 6 pm. After the dedicating the memorial the minister will inaugurate the Kajari Mahotsav, the DM added. The DM said at the memorial place the Kajari artistes will be honoured by the union minister and at BLJ grounds renowned folk artistes will perform Kajari. During the press meet Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Shiv Pratap Shukla, deputy collector Siddharth Yadav and Assistant Tourism Officer Rajesh Bharteeya were also present.
Meanwhile after inaugurating the potable water project under Jal Jeevan Mission on Tuesday DM Divya Mittal said it is a matter of contentment that the most problematic village, Devahat of Lahuriyadah area, started getting potable water from the tap. Overwhelmed by the success of the project she said she was aware of the fact that neither any potable water scheme nor any handpump was successful in the area and in summer water tankers were the only way to meet the potable water needs of the people of the area. She assured that the village will have a school soon.
Amidst the chanting of the Vedic shlokas the district magistrate inaugurated the project and congratulated the villagers that it was for the first time that they were getting potable water through the taps at their doorstep. She thanked sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Bharat Lal Saroj, experts from BHU and others associated with the scheme who worked hard to fulfil the dream of the government 'Har Ghar Nal Se Jal' in the most challenging village of the district.
MEETING: Chairman Nagar Palika Parishad (NPP) Shyam Sundar Keshari while holding the meeting of tax collectors on Tuesday directed the officials concerned with the tax to intensify recovery. He asked the officers posted in Tax department to inspect the demand register and remove those demands which are bogus. He directed the authorities to review collection regularly, identify big tax defaulters and collect dues by formulating a strategy. He said action will be taken against those tax collectors who are not found serious about their duty. He directed to collect dues running into crores and impose commercial rates on those buildings which were being used for commercial purposes. He directed the officials to collect dues from the government departments by launching a drive and regular review.
