Navneet Singh Chahal has now been appointed as the new District Magistrate (DM) of Prayagraj. This was confirmed after the letter was issued late on Saturday night. After the transfer of the outgoing DM Sanjay Kumar Khatri, Navneet Singh Chahal was made the DM here. He is an IAS officer of 2011 batch. Prior to this he was the DM of Agra. After serving there for almost a year, he has been entrusted with the responsibility of a big district like Prayagraj. Chahal is a resident of Panipat. Before Agra, he has also been DM in Mathura. It is expected that the new DM can take charge on Monday.
The outgoing DM Sanjay Kumar Khatri was made the DM of Prayagraj on June 5, 2021. His tenure here was for two years and three months. The assembly elections 2022, the elections of Municipal Corporation and Nagar Panchayat were successfully completed here during his tenure. Sanjay Kumar Khatri has been made ACEO Noida.
notification issued: The Allahabad University administration has allowed the recently recruited assistant professors to enrol research scholars under them. AU Registrar, Prof N K Shukla has issued a notification in this regard.
Earlier, assistant professors in probation period were not allowed to enrol aspirants wishing to pursue PhD. This is being done by AU in accordance with UGC’s 2022 regulations, which are applicable to all central universities.
So far, more than 300 teachers have been appointed in AU. These newly appointed assistant professors will conduct PhD of the candidates selected through Common Research Entrance Test (CRET) 2023 to be held this year. The AU administration has sought information about seats for CRET 2023 from the departments and colleges. Under CRET 2022, admission is being done against 709 seats of PhD in AU and constituent colleges. Against the total number of PhD seats in 43 subjects, there are 316 PhD seats in universities main campus and 393 in colleges. “Each assistant professor can enrol two research scholars under them for PhD as per rules”, said AU’s PRO, Prof Jaya Kapoor.
Meanwhile, teacher recruitment is going on at different constituent colleges of AU. At Allahabad Degree College, a constituent college of AU, teacher recruitment is being done after a gap of 18 years. Recruitment has started for 132 posts in 24 subjects at this college.
Till now the interview for Physics department has been completed. Likewise, 17 new teachers have been appointed in two subjects in CMP Degree College.
