Air India has taken action against two pilots for allowing a female friend into the cockpit of a Delhi-Leh flight last week. This incident follows a previous incident where an Air India pilot had his license suspended for three months after permitting a woman friend into the cockpit mid-air on a Dubai to Delhi flight.
Upon receiving a complaint from the cabin crew regarding an unauthorised female passenger in the cockpit of flight AI-445, Air India management promptly grounded the pilot and co-pilot involved. The Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) responded to the incident by stating that necessary action is being taken in accordance with established procedures. Sources reveal that the airline has formed a committee to conduct a detailed investigation.
In a recent development, the DGCA imposed a fine of ?30 lakh on Air India for allegedly failing to address the cockpit violation incident promptly and effectively. Additionally, the license of the pilot involved in the Dubai to Delhi flight, where the woman was allowed into the cockpit, was suspended for three months. The co-pilot received a warning for not being assertive in preventing the unauthorised action.
