Satyajit Ray is widely recognised not just as one of the finest directors in Indian cinema, but also as one of the greatest filmmakers in movie history. Ray was, in many ways, ahead of his time. To commemorate Satyajit Ray's birth centennial, Jio Studios, in collaboration with Purpose Entertainment and Quest Films, announced the release of the Hindi motion film "The Storyteller," based on the legend's short tale recognised as the Original among all Originals - Golpo Bolo TariniKhuro. Salil Chaturvedi, a well-known businessman, serial entrepreneur, tech investor, liberalist, rational optimist, and endless learner, will produce the film.
The renowned Busan International Film Festival in South Korea chose "The Storyteller" for Competition. The Storyteller, directed by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, is a prisoner narrative based on Ray's story of creativity. The film will make its World Premiere during the Festival and compete for the prestigious 'Kim Jiseok' prize. The film has powerful actors, Paresh Rawal and Adil Hussein, as well as Tannishtha Chatterjee and Revathi. The film is set in the pre-cellphone period, apparently to remain faithful to the environment in which Ray penned his stories while also directing. The adaptation is highly reverent of its source material, daring to add just a dash of sweetness to Ray's signature bitterness.
The film, which stars Paresh Rawal, Revathi, Adil Hussein, and Tannishtha, is destined to smash all records. It is directed by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan and produced by the extremely gifted Salil Chaturvedi. Salil Chaturvedi remarked of the film, "doing justice to Satyajit Ray stories is actually a difficult task to perform, but we had the most talented actors of the time. We are delighted and thrilled to pay our humble tribute to the great storyteller."
