Chhattisgarh Police on Sunday arrested a woman and her lover for killing the woman’s husband in January 2020 in Durg district. Both have been jailed.
Durg Senior Superintendent of Police Badri Narayan Meena identified them as Rani Sharma (35) and her lover, Dheeraj Kahsyap (40), of Charoda town in the district.
Sharma’s husband Sunil Sharma was found dead on January 25, 2020 in his house.
During investigation, the police learnt that Sharma’s wife had an affair with Kashyap, who, on being detained, confessed his involvement in the crime.
He told the police that Rani and he had taken money from a person named Sandeep on the pretext of providing him a job.
Sandeep mounted pressure on them to return his money and threatened to lodge a cheating case against them if they failed.
So, they planned to kill Sharma so that they would get more time to return Sandeep’s money. Also, they wanted to get rid of Rani’s husband to pursue their relationship.
On January24-25 night, Kashyap entered Sharma’s house and beat him with a crowbar when he was sleeping. Sharma’s wife Rani was also arrested.
A court sent the lovers to jail.
