The West Odisha History Congress (WOHC) organised its sixth webinar lecture series at Bhawanipatna on Thursday on the occasion of the first birth centenary of Prof Nabin Kumar Sahu, renowned historian and former Vice-Chancellor of Sambalpur University.
The programme was started with a welcome address by WOHC secretary Dr Trilochan Jena, which was followed by an address by Prof Amiya Kumar Pattanaik, former Vice-Chancellor, Utkal University of Culture.
Dr Pattanaik, in his insightful speech, spoke briefly on the topic "Historiography: Contribution of NK Sahu".
Dr PK Mohanty, former Prof in History and former President of Odisha History Congress, who was the resource person of this webinar, delivered a talk on the topic highlighting the contribution of NK Sahu to the history, culture and archeology of Odisha. He said Dr Sahu's contributions to subjects like Buddhism in Odisha, Kharavela, Odia Jatira Itihasa, archaeological excavation at Asurgarh (Narla), Maraguda, Ganiapali, Asurgarh (Manomunda) are immense and valuable.
A question-answer session followed in which participants asked several questions to the resource person.
WOHC president Dr Baba Mishra, vice-president Dr PK Dandasenaand treasurers Dr Ranvir Singh, retired Berhampur University Professor Dr RC Mishro and a number of students participated in the webinar. Nalini Bag and Suprabha Nayak of Govt. Women’s College, Bhawanipatna, were the moderators of the event.
