Varsha moves HC for bail

Sunday, 31 July 2022 | PNS | CUTTACK

Following summons issued by the Delhi police, actress Varsha Priyadarshini on Saturday moved the Orissa High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the case over her alleged casteist remarks.

Besides, Varsha’s mother and niece also sought anticipatory bail from the court.

Notably, all three have been summoned by the Delhi police for allegedly using casteist slur against and misbehaving with a staff of actor-turned-politician and Varsha’s estranged husband Anubhav Mohanty. Though the incident had occurred on July 9 in 2019, the Delhi police registered the case this month.

Earlier on July 25, a Delhi police team had arrived here in this connection. But due to lack of cooperation from the local Purighat police, the team had to return to Delhi. Later in the day, Varsha along with her elder sister reached the Purighat police station to receive the summons.
