Vajan Tyohar (Weight Festival), a survey to find out the nutrient level in children, begins in Anganwadis across the Chhattisgarh on Monday.
It will continue till August 13 during which the weight and height of children will be taken in order to check whether they are suffering from malnutrition.
The Women and Child Development (WCD) Department takes the weight of all children in a particular period and determines the nutritional level during the weight festival. The state government has ensured that the data of the weight festival is verified by external agencies as well.
Meanwhile, WCD Minister WCD Anila Bhedia has appealed the parents to coordinate with the authorities in getting the weight of their children checked so that their development can be monitored.A work plan will later be prepared as per the details of the survey and targeted children will be earmarked, the Minister said. Community participation is needed to make Chhattisgarh children malnutrition free, she added.
