Every year, on 29th September, World Heart Day is observed worldwide with a view to distributing knowledge about heart disease, its causes, preventive methods, etc. In line with the commitment and responsibility of the Tata group which seeks to improve the lives of the community and society as a whole, observing this day was thought to be important for one and all.
At Tata Motors Hospital, Jamshedpur, this day is observed each year with the objective to spread community awareness among our patients, the general public, and citizens of the city of Jamshedpur. As in the earlier years, an early morning 4.2 km walk was undertaken by medical, administrative, and nursing staff of the hospital, Occupational Health Center as well as high-ranking officials of the Tata Motors Plant, Jamshedpur. The walk was preceded by a short introduction to the need to have knowledge about heart disease by Dr. Sanjay Kumar, FRCS, Head of Tata Motors Hospital. Thereafter, Plant Head of Tata Motors Plant, Jamshedpur, Mr. Ravindra Kulkarni gave his wise words of encouragement and flagged off the walk after releasing red balloons.
Various educational posters were prepared by the nursing staff of the hospital to spread awareness about the event and placards were carried by the participants along the route for the public to view and gain knowledge about how to reduce the risk of heart disease. Free health check-up camp was organized in the outpatient department of the hospital. As part of continuing medical education activities a talk about Common Cardiovascular diseases was given by Dr Sanjay Lal Srivastava in the hospital conference room.
