With arrests in the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) exam paper leak cases becoming a regular affair, the Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested a government primary school teacher, Balwant Singh Rautela on Tuesday for alleged involvement in the case. The STF has arrested a total of 29 accused in this case so far including five accused in the past four days. The senior superintendent of police (SSP) of STF, Ajai Singh said that the accused Rautela is a teacher in the Government Primary School at Lohaghat in Champawat. He said that the accused used to run a Public Call Office (PCO) and sell small electronics items before becoming a primary school teacher in a government school. He is considered as a right hand man of Shashikant, another accused nabbed by STF earlier on Sunday, said Singh. According to him, the accused Shashikant operated four online examination centres in Haldwani, Almora, Champawat and Pithoragarh and has conducted more than 40 online exams in these centres as per the information available so far. A case is already registered against him in Haldwani for carrying out an alleged scam in the CTET exam in the year 2013 in Uttarakhand. The accused Shashikant and Rautela are also allegedly involved with the mafia of Uttar Pradesh involved in examination malpractices, said the SSP. He said that Rautela allegedly leaked the paper to about 40 aspirants who stayed in two resorts in Nainital. He said that most of the aspirants have been identified by the STF on the basis of the evidence gathered from accused and staff of the resorts. The STF is interrogating the accused and more arrests are expected on the basis of the investigation, added the SSP.
