Samajwadi Party MLA and uncle of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Shivpal Singh Yadav appeared set to part ways and revive his political party Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party Lohia (PSPL). On Tuesday, Shivpal abstained from the meeting of Samajwadi Party and its allies which SP include Apna Dal (Kamerawadi), SBSP and Mahan Dal.
Shivpal, who contested and won the election from Jaswantnagar seat of Etawah on the symbol of Samajwadi Party, is upset with Akhilesh for not being invited to the meeting of the SP Legislature Party held on March 26. Akhilesh was elected leader of the opposition in the meeting. However Shivpal was invited for the meeting of SP and its allies party at the state SP office on Tuesday.
Shivpal Singh Yadav, who went from Etawah to New Delhi and met Mulayam Singh Yadav two days back, returned to Etawah on Tuesday. SBSP president Om Prakash Rajbhar, who attended the meeting, said that Shivpal Yadav was with the Samajwadi Party and there was no confusion.
Sources said that Shivpal wanted to be the leader of opposition in the UP assembly and was unhappy with Akhilesh taking over the post. Sources said that before the Assembly polls, Akhilesh had promised his uncle to make him leader of opposition if the party failed to win a majority in the assembly.
