The Vigilance police on Friday conducted raids on the office and properties of NiharRanjan Das, Additional Chief Engineer, Planning, Monitoring, Design and Investigation of Rural Water Sanitation and Survey(RWSS), Bhubaneswar, on the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
During the searches, the anti-graft agency so far found evidence of Rs 1.75-crore investments in crypto currencies by Das. As many as 38 documents related to crypto investments were recovered and being examined by the Financial Wing of Vigilance and crypto experts.
Besides, a 3-BHK flat at Sri Ram Mansion in Kharavel Nagar in Bhubaneswar worth Rs 32 lakh, a triple-storied building at Modipara in Sambalpur, eight plots worth Rs 1.27 crore in prime areas of Sambalpurtown, gold jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh, cash of Rs 1.05 lakh and bank deposits worth Rs 64.lakh were unearthed so far.
Further searches were continuing. Revelation of more assets was likely and the overall valuation was likely to increase.
