Ratapani Sanctuary to open from Dec 07

Tourists need not go to far-flung sanctuaries for a Tiger Safari. Tigers and other wild animals can be seen in the sanctuary adjacent to Bhopal. There are more than 45 tigers and 80 leopards in this sanctuary.

Ratapani Sanctuary is starting Tiger Safari from December 07. Two routes are planned to enter the safari. One gate is near Jhiri, located 25 km from the capital. The second gate is in the Delabari forest. Ratapani Century is spread over 917 sq km. It is divided into four ranges. The charges for the Safari are same as other Tiger Safari’s in the state. At present Jhiri has entry for pedestrians and trekking.

At present tourists will be able to do safari only from Jhiri and Delabari side. Safari will start here in eight electric vehicles. In this, 6 vehicles will be operating from Jhiri and 2 vehicles from Delabari. After the increase in the number of tourists, the number of vehicles will be increased.

Safari timings will start from 6 am. Booking of tourists will be done on a first come first serve basis. Vijay Kumar, DFO of Obaidullaganj Forest Division said that there is a 40 km long track from Jhiri to Karmai and a 20 km long track has been made from Delabari Gate. Initially, for Safari, tourists will have to buy tickets from the gate itself. Online booking for Sanctuary will also be possible after December 15.
