A public hearing for expansion of the Jindal Steel Odisha’s plant at Angul was completed here on Wednesday. Around 600 people from the proposed expansion area participated in the hearing and expressed their support for the expansion move.
The meeting was presided over by Angul ADM Rajanikant Swain. Dr Anup Mallik, Regional Officer of State Pollution Control Board, Baitura Deep, Sub-Collector, Ishani Panda, LAO, JSP Head (Environment) Alok Sahu were present.
The project consists of a 19.2-MTPA integrated steel plant, expansion of the pellet plant and the hot rolling mill at Basudevpur, Panpur, Kaliakata Jungle, Kaliakata, Ramadih, Sankerjang, Sankerjang Jungle, Badakerjang, Badakerjang Jungel, Jamunda, Jamunda Jungle, Paripara and Jarada villages of Banarpal and Chhendipada block. After completion, the capacity of the JSP steel plant will be 25.2, MTPA, which will make it the world’s largest steel plant at a single location.
The company will invest Rs 1,19,952 crore and 9,400 direct employments will be generated. As man as7.7 lakh trees shall be planted and the plant will have a complete zero-effluent discharge system. The company will also set up a multispecialty hospital
