In a sensational incident, pregnant wife of a bank manage and their 5-year-old son were found murdered in Hastinapur locality of Meerut on Monday. Reports said robbers stormed the house in Ramlila Ground Colony and strangulated the woman and her son.
According to police, Sandeep Kumar is a manager in Punjab National Bank in Bijnor. He had gone to his workplace on Monday morning while his wife Shikha and son Rudransh were home. When Sandeep returned home around 8 pm, the main gate was locked from outside and the scooty was also not there. Sandeep tried calling his wife but there was no response.
When the calls went unanswered till as late as 10 pm, Sandeep grew suspicious. In the meantime, he also contacted police but no help came his way. Sandeep then broke the lock, only to find the house ransacked. He frantically searched for Shikha whose body was found in a room while that of his son in another room.
The miscreants locked the main gate of the house before taking to their heels.
SSP Rohit Singh Sajwan and SP (Rural) Keshav Kumar reached the spot on being informed. “The woman and the child appeared to have been murdered after robbery. Special Operations Group (SOG) and surveillance have been deployed to work out the case,” the SSP said.
The SP (Rural) said: “Some WhatsApp chats have been deleted from the woman’s mobile. Much evidence has been found. The role of insiders can’t be ruled out. The accused will be nabbed soon.”
The bodies were sent for autopsy and the police were waiting for the report. A team of forensic experts was also summoned to the spot to collect evidence.
