In a function held under the auspices of social organisation Suryakhetra Foundation at the Jayadev Bhawan here, selected persons having significant contributions to the field of environmental conservation were felicitated.
Environment expert Prof Jayakrushna Panigrahi was conferred with the Paribesh Ratna Samman by chief guest Higher Education Minister Er Rohit Pujari. A national seminar on water conservation was also organised. As a guest, Dr Panigrahi narrated how population explosion, increase in pollution, global warming and climate change are making water availability a life-threatening problem progressively.
Among others, Suryakhetra chairman Dr Bipin Bihari Mishra, Additional Secretary of Environment Department Manoranjan Mohapatra, Principal Scientist Dr Pramod Panda, KAPOCH chairman Sangram Paikaray, DFO Ajit Satpathy and organiser Rabindranath Routray were present.
Dr. Panigrahi has been participating in various activities and presenting his views in the context of environmental issues as the secretary of Orissa Environmental Society and has received many such awards.
