JAGATSINGHPUR DCPC MEETING HELD  (Pix)  

Jagatsinghpur: The District Consumer Protection Council’s (DCPC) first meeting was held on Saturday with Collector Parul Patwari in the chair. The meeting aimed to educate consumers on their civil rights and obligation with regard to the consumer protection Act and Rules. Government Chief Whip in the State Assembly Prasanta Muduli, MP Dr Rajashree Mallick, the Zilla Parishad President, the Paradip Municipality Chairman, DSP Subash Chandra Panda, District Civil Supplies Officer Sujata Mishra, ADM-cum-District Consumer Protection Officer Satchidananda Sahoo spoke.

 

DISASTER REDUCTION DAY CELEBRATED IN JSPUR  (Pix)

Jagatsinghpur: The Odisha Disaster Preparedness Day and the National Day for Disaster Reduction were celebrated by the Jagatsinghpur district administration on Saturday. Awareness rallies, public meetings, essay and debate competitions among students and mass lighting of lamps were conducted. Speakers at a public meeting recalled the memories of the Super Cyclone of 1999. MLA Prasanta Muduli, Collector Parul Patwari, ADM Chinmayee Biswal, District Emergency Officer Devi Prasad Mohanty, DIPRO Kaminiranjan Pattnayak spoke.

 

EX-DAO GETS 2-YR RI FOR BRIBERY

Rourkela: Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh, Rajalaxmi Patnaik on Saturday sentenced ex-District Agriculture Officer (DAO), Bonai of Sundargarh district, Daitayari  Satpathy (62) to two years’ rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 3,000 from Junior Agriculture Officer Gayadhar Sahu 13 years ago.

 

ATHMALLIK BLOCK RANKS THIRD IN FLOOD MGMT  (Pix)

Athamallik: During the floods last monsoon, the Athmallik block administration achieved the third position in the State in management of the situation. The flood-affected people were brought to safe places and provided food and clothing. Due to the cooperation of MLA Ramesh Chandra Sai, local administration, police, ODRAF, Fire Service, Health Department, the whole process was smooth. At a function organised by the State Disaster Management Department in Bhubaneswar, a trophy and a certificate were given to block Chairman Dushasan Raul and the BDO.

 

IHCL-ASSAM GOVT MOU FOR HOSPITALITY SKILLS CENTRE

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has signed an MoU with the Assam Government to establish a hospitality-focused skills training centre in the North East in line with the company’s ESG+ framework, Paathya. The state-of-the-art residential Centre of Excellence will be developed in collaboration with Assam Tourism Development Corporation Limited, Tata STRIVE Skill Development Initiative of Tata Community Initiative Trust (TCIT) and Union Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
