CM APPROVES GOVT ITI IN POLSARA

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday approved a proposal to open a Government ITI in Polsara of Ganjam district. It was a longstanding demand of local residents. With this, the number of Government ITIs has reached six in the district. Government ITIs are already functioning at Chhatrapur, Purushottampur, Brahmapur, Shergarh and Hinjilikatu.

Bhubaneswar: Young cricketer from Odisha, Manas Khara, found place in Under-19 Indian cricket team for the upcoming matches against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad. He hails from Kashipur block in Rayagada district. He is the lone cricketer from Odisha to have been selected for Junior India T-20 International matches scheduled from October 15.

 

PLANTATION DRIVE: PADAYATRA HELD IN B'PUR  (Pix)

Brahmapur: The Adarsha Sishu Vidya Mandir led by its founder Prabhat Kumar Mishra organised a ‘Greenage Campaign’ (make city green) to sensitise the public on planting more and more trees to make the area environment-friendly. Mishra led a padayatra passing through different lanes and sub lanes and busiest places of the city holding placards and chanting slogans and distributed trees to the environmental lovers to mark the event. BeMC Corporator of Ward 12 Suryakanta Subudhi and president of Sanskarbadi Sangathan and social activist Trinath Moharana participated in the campaign as guests and  apprised people about the benefits of trees. School headmistress Pramila Sadangi coordinated the event.

 

JSPUR OLD MAN CRUSHED UNDER TRAIN WHEELS

Jagatsinghpur: A septuagenarian man identified as Satrughan Bhoi of Banikuda village under Raghunathpur area was crushed under train wheels at Kandaripata railway crossing on Cuttack- Paradip railway line on Monday. The deceased was returning to his village in his bicycle when he met with the accident at the level crossing gate. The Railway police arrived at the spot and sent the body to Cuttack for postmortem and performing legal formalities.

 

VEDANTA TO STRENGTHEN GRASSROOTS SPORTING CULTURE  (Pix)

Bhubaneswar: On the National Sports Day, the Vedanta Aluminium pledged to strengthen grassroots sporting culture with the participation of young talents from local communities in and around its areas of operations. The company has been actively supporting several sports formats, events and training programmes in Jharsuguda and Lanjigarh (Kalahandi) and nearby areas. Commemorating the day at Jharsuguda, a football skills and techniques demonstration was organised for youngsters.

In Lanjigarh, karate and archery competitions were held with children and young adults participating in the event. Vedanta CEO, Jharsuguda, Sunil Gupta spoke on the occasion.
