As a part of various preventive measures undertaken by the Uttar Pradesh government to limit any further spread of COVID-19, a 5-day special focused doorstep screening drive has been completed successfully in the state.
An official communiqué released on Sunday confirmed that under the drive, which was conducted from January 24 to 29, healthcare workers, including ASHA and Anganwadi workers, and members of the surveillance committees visited houses and conducted thorough screening to bring down the transmission level. During the campaign, nearly 1,10,857 symptomatic people were identified while about 239 people were immediately admitted to hospitals for their proper treatment.
In addition, a list of infants and newborn babies who were not inoculated with essential vaccines yet, was also prepared. Besides, people who are yet to get vaccinated against COVID-19 were identified.
The chief minister has directed the officials concerned to provide Covid vaccine cover to all 4.18 lakh senior citizens who have yet not been vaccinated, on priority.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, regular immunisation of about 7.01 lakh infants and of around 2.89 lakh pregnant women could not be completed. The chief minister has also directed officials to complete their vaccination at the earliest.
So far more than one lakh people have been given medicine kits in the door to door screening drive in the state. Since the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly 80 lakh medical kits for adults and over 25 lakh medical kits for children have been distributed by the surveillance committees in the state. The medical kits have been prepared for both asymptomatic and symptomatic patients, and are being distributed.
Over one crore medical kits have been distributed by the Uttar Pradesh Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (UPMSCL).
