NMC recognizes Medical College in Mahasamund

The National Medical Commission (NMC) on Saturday issued a letter of intent to the Mahasamund Medical College granting recognition for 100 seats for the academic session 2022-23.

In 2020, the permission for opening three medical colleges in the districts of Kanker, Mahasamund and Korba was granted. In 2021, the Kanker Medical College got the recognition.

For the current           academic year, the Mahasamund and Korba Medical Colleges were   considered to be in the race for recognition.

The NMC conducted an inspection in April and directed them to overcome the shortcomings. In May, another virtual inspection took place.

Based on the NMC report, the Mahasamund Medical College was        recognized for medical education.

At present, the number of seats for MBBS degree in government colleges is 965 and in private colleges 600 in Chhattisgarh.
