Odisha Assembly Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha on Wednesday informed that the duration of House business has been revised from five hours to six hours a day.
Following an all-party meeting ahead of the Assembly’s Monsoon Session scheduled from July 2, the Speaker said the House would run from 10 am to 1 pm in first phase and the second phase would be held from 4 pm to 7 pm. Earlier, the second phase used to last till 6 pm.
The Speaker further said all members of the Assembly have unanimously agreed for smooth running of the House, which would run in adherence to the Covid-19 guidelines.
At the meeting, Congress Legislature Party Leader Narasingha Mishra and senior BJP MLA Bishnu Sethi demanded that unlike in the last two years during the Covid pandemic journalists be allowed to enter the Assembly. They also demanded that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik remain physically present in the House during import ant discussions.
The Assembly session will continue till August 4. The full Budget for the year 2022-23 will be presented on first day of the session on July 2. The session will have 24 working days. The House will be adjourned from July 7 to 13. The second phase of the session will begin on July 14.
