To promote solar energy in the State, the Government is going to implement a solar policy. For some time, work was being done on the policy by the Department of Energy and Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (JREDA), which will be implemented now. With this policy, the target of solar power generation in the State has been kept at four thousand MW.
This solar energy will be produced from private and public sectors. Under the policy, facilities to set up solar plants will be provided. JREDA will work under a single window system so that electricity consumers do not have trouble installing it. A time limit has also been fixed for this, which is two months old. In these two months, all the process of setting up solar plants will be completed.
Electricity consumers will also get many discounts for setting up solar plants. In this, there will be 100 per cent exemption in stamp duty on documents like lease, deed and others. Rebates will also be given in the rate required to change the use of land for solar plant use. At the same time, a provision of 30 per cent subsidy has been made on the use of solar energy in the agriculture sector. With the implementation of the policy, off-grid systems will be promoted for solar park, solar grid, rooftop solar system. With this electricity can be used directly.
Solar roof top is installed every year by JREDA. In such a situation, after this policy, a provision of subsidy will be made on installing solar roof tops. Under this scheme, 60 per cent subsidy will be given to the people having an annual income of three lakhs. About 80 per cent subsidy will be given for installing a solar roof top of 10 kilowatt capacity. Along with this, solar cold storage, solar desalination, solar spinning wheel and others will be promoted.
The State Government will also buy electricity from consumers setting up solar plants. Under the scheme of the Central Government, this will be emphasized in the State also. Due to which the income of the people will also be there. In such a situation, priority will be given in buying power generated from solar energy in the State. Many types of discounts will also be given to the investors, which will promote solar power while investing in the State.
