Rashtriya Lok Dal national president Jayant Chaudhary has written a letter addressed to the people of Uttar Pradesh, seeking their blessings.
In the letter, without naming the Bharatiya Janata Party, Chaudhary said the last five years in UP were anti-people due to mal-administration and ill intent of those in power.
“Those in power tried to divide society by spreading social enmity, casteism and religious canards. The voice of the farmers was suppressed and atrocities against women and Dalits increased during this period but the people did not let these forces overpower them,” he said.
The RLD president invoked late leader Chaudhary Charan Singh, saying that UP was the karmabhoomi of Chaudharyji he greatly contributed in solving farmers’ issues and ensuring their self-respect and economic uplift. He also mentioned Chaudhary Ajit Singh, saying the latter opened the way for farmers to get financial independence.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Singh Nimesh was appointed state president of Rashtriya Lok Dal (youth wing) by Jayant Chaudhary on Saturday. The appointment was made by national president of RLD (youth wing) Wasim Raza.
Nimesh had contested the parliamentary election from Agra (reserved seat) on an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ticket in 2014 and has worked for several social organisations. He came into limelight when he started an agitation against poor electricity supply in Agra.
