India stares at a civil war, says Bhakta

Wednesday, 20 July 2022 | BIKASH KHEMKA | BHAWANIPATNA

Senior congress leader Bhakta Charan Das on Tuesday said there would be a civil war in India shortly like in Sri Lanka now as people have been fed up with the “lies and exploitation” by the Modi Government.

He accused the BJP of dividing the nation by communal politics.

Das was addressing hundreds of workers who joined the Congress from the BJP and the BJD here. The political workers were from Lanjigarh and Thuamul Rampur blocks of Kalahandi district.

He said youths would be either Naxalites or dacoits after four years’ service in the Agneepath scheme implemented by the Centre because they would lose their dignity after not getting any other jobs.

Das said 62 lakh posts are lying vacant in different jobs in the country. Unemployment has increased from 4% to 9% during the BJP regime. In 2014, Modi had promised not to impose tax on common people but took a U-turn after the 2019 mandate.

Das also slammed Odisha’s BJD Government. He said hundreds of youths did not get jobs in the Lanjigarh-based Vedanta Alumina and Rayagada-based Utkal Alumina, for which they are blaming the State Government.

The economy of the country has worsened and the Congress is the only party which would be back in power in the next polls, he said.

Gopaldas Mohanand of Lanjigarh block, who was the BJD SC Cell general secretary of Kalahandi, joined the Congress.

Kalahandi DCC president Bharat Bemal, spokesperson Mahammad Ali and Lanjigarh block president Karuna Majhi were present.
