The IIT student followers of ISKCON have decided to hold the Rath yatra festival on a grand scale this year. To be organised after a gap of two years owing to Corona, the IITan followers have prepared an automatic rath for Lord Jagannath that would reduce its height to avoid any contact with either overhead electrical wires or tree branches during the course of the rath yatra.
The upper most canopy of the chariot would be able to reduce its height up to three feet at click of button if required, said one of the followers engaged in the project, however refused to be named.
The actual height of the chariot is over 10 feet on which Lord Jagannath , Balram and their sister Subhadra would be installed ahead of the yatra that would be held at Dhanbad club at around 4 PM. The rath would start its journey from Steel gate Durga Temple at 10am and after covering different areas would finally reach Dhanbad club where cultural events including distribution of prasad would be held till late evening .
Besides , the Odiya society of Dhanbad is also preparing for a grand rathayatra after a gap of two years .
