Huge cache of arms, ammunitions recovered from Lohardaga forest

Sub Zonal commander of CPI (Maoist) Govind Birijia, who was arrested on Thursday, revealed before the security personnel disclosing about of large quantity of hidden I.E.Ds., codex wire, arms, cartridges, Naxalite papers, mobile phone, medicine and two bags along with the materials of daily use which were recovered from Lohardaga forests on Friday.

Birijiya was arrested after an encounter in Korgo village under Bagdu police station area of the Lohardaga district. The encounter started after security personnel engaged in anti-naxal operations in Jharkhand reached in the locality on getting information regarding movement of extremists.

On the instructions of Lohardaga SP and Inspector General of Police, Jharkhand, continuous anti-Naxal operations are being conducted in Lohardaga. In the same sequence, on 28 and 29.12.2020, accurate information was received about gathering of top Naxalite Ravindra Ganjhu in the forest around Korgo village of Bagdu police station area of Lohardaga district for the purpose of carrying out some serious incident.

 The police immediately launched a search operation. During the search operation, there was a fierce encounter between the joint security forces of this squad. Thereafter, a search operation was carried out by the expedition team in the Korgo forest. During the search operation, two militants were arrested by the security forces, in which one militant was injured who gave his name as Chandrabhan Pahan and another militant who gave his name as Govind Birjia, both are sub-zonal commanders of CPI Maoist. Wounded militant Chandrabhan Pahan died during treatment. During the continuous search operation, on December 30, at the behest of militant Govind Birjia, a cache of ammunition was also recovered along with a large quantity of state-of-the-art weapons kept hidden.

In the search operation so far, an Isaas rifle, SLR rifle, 2 303 rifle, 1 semi automatic rifle and more than 500 bullets were recovered by the security forces. During the search operation on 29.12.2022, a large quantity of IED, codex, wire, weapons, cartridges, Naxalite papers, mobile phones, medicines and two backpacks were recovered along with daily use items by the security forces. The intensive search operation is still going on by the security forces under siege in the entire area. Jharkhand Police and CRPF forces are continuously conducting operations against Naxalites with efficient leadership strategy and determination.
