High Mega Watershed Project launched in State’s 24 blocks

High Mega Watershed Project has been started in 24 blocks of seven districts of Jharkhand with the objective of the scheme is to increase the moisture and quality of the land by better water management, so that the work of agriculture and horticulture can be expanded and the goal of doubling the income of the farmers can be achieved said MGNREGA  Rajeshwari B .

 

Rajeshwari said this while speaking in the Rural Development Department auditorium on Friday in a detailed review of the progress of the High Impact Mega Water Shed Project under Bharat Rural Livelihood Function (BRLF) was conducted in the departmental auditorium under the chairmanship of MNREGA Commissioner.

 

 Information about the points related to the scheme and its implementation was obtained from the officials. The scheme is being operated through Bharat Rural Livelihoods Foundation (BRLF), an organization of the Government of India.

 

High Impact Mega Watershed Project is being implemented under MGNREGA scheme in total 24 blocks of seven districts of the state namely Gumla, West Singhbhum, Pakur, Sahibganj, Godda, Dumka and Giridih. The target of this project is to develop a total of 696 watersheds in 24 blocks. With this, 3 lakh 39 thousand hectares of land can be treated and the goal of doubling the income of at least one lakh farmers can be achieved.

 

The progress report was reviewed by all the institutions in the meeting. MGNREGA Commissioner appreciated Kalamandir, WOTR work done in water budget and cultivation of medicinal plants like Moringa, Tulsi.

 

Along with this, instructions were given by Rajeshwari to assess the impact of the works being done under BRLF. Apart from this, various Sustainable Development Goals were also asked to be included as well as plantation of other fruit plants like litchi, lemon, guava and others the advice was given by the MGNREGA Commissioner. It was also asked to pursue the cultivation of Mushroom, Maduva for livelihood.

 

The meeting was attended by district and block officials under BRLF and representatives of Watershed Organisation Trust (WOTR), Vikas Bharti, Pradan, Vasan, Jan Jagran Kendra, Kalamandir, NEED, TSRD, SPWD, Rural Development Trust, ASA respectively.

 

During this meeting, Joint Secretary, Rural Development Department, Arun Kumar Singh and other officials were also present.
