After the High Court made it mandatory for two-wheeler riders to wear a helmet, the State government has taken a major decision for the safety of two-wheeler riders in Madhya Pradesh. The pillion rider will also be required to wear a helmet. PHQ has issued the orders in this regard. Petrol will be available only when the rider is wearing a helmet. Fines will be imposed for breaking the rules.
Guidelines regarding helmets have been issued by the Police Headquarters to Bhopal, Indore Police Commissioner along with the SPs of all the districts. Under this instruction, the PHQ said that the pillion rider including the bike rider should also wear helmets.
Instructions to all two-wheeler riders and pillion riders to wear helmets through flex, banners at all petrol pumps will be circulated. Without a helmet, there will be difficulties in parking too. Space will be given in the parking lot only if the helmet is worn. Apart from this, petrol will be available at the petrol pump only when the driver is wearing a helmet.
The Police Headquarters has said in the instructions that the arrangement of vehicle parking is done on contract through local bodies like Gram Panchayat, Nagar Panchayat, Nagar Palika, Municipal Corporation. Here, drivers who do not wear helmets will not get a place in the parking lot.
Parking operators have been given strict instructions that if anyone comes to the parking lot without wearing a helmet, then they should not be allowed to park the two -wheeler in the parking lot. If such vehicles are given space in the parking, then action will be taken against the parking person.
Apart from this, there are strict instructions for the employees of government and private offices. Action will be taken against the employee who does not follow the rule of wearing a helmet. The Police Headquarters has also given instructions to the school and college. In these institutions, along with the employees, the students also follow the rules.
The police have been given a free hand to take action against the drivers who are not wearing helmets. These instructions have been given by the Police Headquarters in compliance with the order of the Jabalpur High Court.
