Former minister Bandhu Tirkey inaugurated the fifth Jharkhand International Film Festival today at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, presided over by Vice Chancellor of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University Professor Tapan Kumar Shandilya, senior journalist Harinarayan Singh was present as a special guest.
Prof. Shandilya said that such events create an environment for film making. Senior journalist Harinarayan Singh said that they are doing a very good work and in this historic work, the art and culture department should actively cooperate with the government.
Chief Guest Bandhu Tirkey said that Jharkhand is an area of art and culture and there is a need to develop a huge area of natural beauty with tribal culture and will talk to the government so that JIFFA and the government can do something big together. Vinod Mehta described Jharkhand as an area of possibilities. Executive President Sunil Singh Badal conducted the programme. He demanded that like Maharashtra and other states, a rule should be made to show regional films here as well.
Coordinator Pranav Kumar Babbu described Jharkhand as a state of art and culture. The function began with the National Anthem.Bipul Nayak's Deepanjali enthralled everyone with his performance.Young artist Saksham Tiwari presented the patriotic song Sandesh Aate Hai. Mrinalini Akhori also won accolades by singing. Screening of film Damdi starring Kalyani Shahdev and Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Directed by Reena Sahay starring students of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee University and finally came from Gorakhpur
On the eve of the birthday of famous folk dramatist Bhikhari Thakur, Rupantar Natya Sanstha staged the play Kahani Bhikhari, directed by Sunil Jaiswal.
Active cooperation of Akash Sinha, Sujit Upadhyay, Dr. Arif Nasir Butt, Pankaj Kumar, Anand Mathur, Subhash Chandra Arya, Abhishek Bhardwaj, Anuj Sahu, Abhas Nath, Kundan Mishra, Rishabh Prakash, Naman Sinha, Raunak Kishore Sahay and Gopal Bhardwaj in organizing JIFFA.
Meanwhile, the students of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University (DSPMU) were unhappy with the organisers not inviting them in the JIFFA at the DSPMU campus. To avoid any hindrance in this event, the university has postponed the end semester examinations of the students till January 12.
This is not the first time, DSPMU has organized many such extraneous programs, which have nothing to do with the interest of the students. Due to which the students protested against the demand of postponing the examinations of the students and cancelling the organization of the film festival. The students spoke to the DSW of the university, in which the DSW appeared uncomfortable in answering the students.
