Fabric shortage to hit Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in Palamu

Sunday, 31 July 2022 | M FAIYAZ AHMAD | DALTONGANJ

Saffron, white and green fabric has become too scarce in the market here. It is because of the Tiranga making in as many as 3L numbers for the Har Ghar Tiranga programme to start on /from August 13.

Here is the dynamics of the fabric. One meter each of saffron, white and green makes 4 Tiranga of the size of 16 inches  wide and 24 inches long.

For 3L Tirangas there is a requirement for 75,000 meters of each of the three colour fabrics, said DPM JSLPS Bimlesh Kumar Shukla here.

Three of the numerous textile shop owners here in Daltonganj said they don't have such a quantity of any of the three fabrics and we know that for Tiranga one needs all the three colour fabrics.

Fabric crisis is surer to hit achieving the target by August 7 when ready to unfurl Tirangas are to be handed down to the community level federation.

DPM JSLPS Bimlesh Kumar Shukla conceded that none of us nor the textile shop owners had this inkling of such a huge demand coming for the Tiranga.

A chemical industry at Rehla in Palamu has placed an order for 50,000 Tirangas for which little over 12,000 meter fabric of each of the three colour fabric is required while where the Tirangas are so stitched here that is Koyel Aajeevika Apparel Park, there is a stock of only 10,000 meters of each of the three colour fabric.

Again many women who work at the Apparel Park here at best can finish 125 to 150 Tirangas a day and their number too is around 65 to 70. For one Tiranga it is 2.50 paise to be given to a woman who stitches it.

The price of Tiranga is 18 rupees per flag.
