Principal Secretary Food and Civil Supplies Faiz Ahmed Kidwai informed that in case the thumb impression of any beneficiary cannot be matched on the biometric machine due to physical condition, arrangement has been made for distribution of food grains to the beneficiaries through their nominee.
He said that as per the government’s intention, the target is to distribute food grains to 100 percent eligible beneficiaries. If any beneficiary is deprived of food grains due to mechanical reasons, then he can get food grains by contacting the District Food Officer.
Kidwai told that ration is being distributed through nominees to those eligible beneficiaries, whose biometric verification is not successful. So far, ration is being distributed to the nominees made by 62 thousand 384 families. Ration is being distributed after biometric verification by matching more than one fingerprint of the eligible beneficiaries, whose thumb or fingerprints have faded.
Principal Secretary Food informed that apart from biometric verification of the eligible beneficiary, the system of verification by seeing OTP on mobile registered on Aadhaar number of eligible beneficiary is also being implemented soon. Due to this, ration will be distributed to elderly persons whose biometric verification is not done, after verification on the basis of OTP.
Principal Secretary Kidwai informed that more than 5 crore eligible beneficiaries included in the National Food Security Act-2013 are being distributed ration from 25 thousand fair price shops every month in the state.
Any member of the eligible family can get the material from the fair price shop. Ration is distributed after identifying the beneficiary through biometric verification from about 24 thousand 500 fair price shops in the state, on which net connectivity is available, so that no other person can take the ration of the eligible beneficiary.
Kidwai informed that the process of selection of new service provider of POS machine is progress. In the newly installed POS machine, arrangements are being made for verification of biometric verification with an IRIS scanner.
Food grains and other items are being distributed to all the eligible families of the state according to their eligibility under NFSA and Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.
Ration is being distributed to the beneficiaries till 10th of the coming month along with the current month. Portability facility has also been made available to the eligible beneficiaries. No eligible beneficiary is deprived of ration due to non-verification of Aadhaar.
