A death audit report released by the Chhattisgarh Health and Family Welfare Department shows that during the third wave of Covid-19, most deaths occurred where people were not vaccinated, Dr Subash Mishra, Director (Epidemic), said on Sunday.
Dr Mishra said after the experience of first and second phase, a death audit report is being prepared on a daily basis across the state.
He said the report of 28 days in January 2022 stated that in third wave, a total of 209 deaths were reported.
Of this, 135 people were not administered even a single dose of Covid-19 vaccine and in 20 cases only one vaccine dose had been taken.
It was also found that in 54 cases of death, both doses of vaccine were administered.
He said that based on the report it can be confirmed that vaccination has helped in the third wave as compared to the first and second wave of the pandemic reported deaths.
In the third wave, 97-98 percent positive patients did not require hospitalization.
The people who had not taken a single dose of Covid-19 vaccine need to come forward and get vaccinated as a preventive measure, he added.
He said Chhattisgarh has reported a vaccination wastage of 0.8 percent as compared to the national average of around 6 percent.
Till Sunday, the first dose has been administered to 2,04,84,701 people and the second dose to 1,41,80,279.
