Constable suspended in Deoria for giving two different dates of birth

Friday, 15 July 2022 | PNS | Lucknow

Passing high school examination twice with two different dates of births proved costly for a police constable posted at Gauri Bazar police station in Deoria district, as he was placed under suspension and a case of forgery was registered against him.

On a complaint that the constable had forged his birth certificate, a probe was ordered against him and its findings showed that he had cheated by passing the high school examination in two different years giving separate dates of births.

In this case, the Civil Lines police outpost in-charge registered a case against the accused policeman under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.

The district police chief has suspended the accused constable with immediate effect.

Reports said that Arvind Singh Kushwaha, a resident of Adilabad village under Mohammadabad police station of Ghazipur district, was recruited as a constable in UP Police in 2018. He passed the high school examination in 2011 from Inter College Mohammadabad Ghazipur. The date of birth in his high school certificate is June 2, 1997. Again in 2012, he passed high school from Devarshi Deval Mata Rahasi Devi Bhrigunath UM Pandit College from Mardah Ghazipur, and gave his date of birth as June 22, 1997.

In the appointment in the UP Police, 2012 one of the high school certificates was submitted. Someone had complained about this to the police. On the instructions of the district police chief, Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Sonkar investigated the matter, and it was confirmed that he did appear in the high school examination twice with different dates of birth. After this, a case was registered against the constable in Sadar Kotwali under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including cheating. Not only this, the accused constable was suspended.

Superintendent of Police Sankalp Sharma said that a complaint was received against Arvind, a constable of 2018 batch posted at Gauri Bazaar police station, that he had obtained this job on a fake birth certificate, and an investigation was conducted by the ASP in which the fact came to the fore. He said on the basis of the report, a departmental inquiry was started and if the cop failed to prove the charges, his service would be terminated.
