In Madhya Pradesh, the Congress has stepped up preparations for the assembly elections to be held next year. The party will start working on the selection of candidates soon. First of all, out of the existing 96 MLAs, the ticket of those who have the possibility of winning will be given the green signal.
In the recent survey conducted by Congress State President and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath, the possibility of victory of about 70 MLAs has been told. The party will give signals to such MLAs to start preparing for the assembly elections in January-February itself.
In the survey, the position of 26 MLAs has not been found favourable for victory. The party will start looking for new faces on these seats. State Congress's strategy is to clear the names of the candidates for all the seats by June. Along with this, the party has also decided that the candidate will be decided only after a consensus is reached in the assembly constituency. The name will not be imposed from the central level.
According to Congress sources, there is still about ten months for the assembly elections 2023, but the party has started the work of selecting the candidates. Madhya Pradesh Congress President Kamal Nath is also resorting to surveys from time to time to know the ground situation of the Congress.
At present, in the surveys that have been conducted by the party, the hold of the sitting MLAs of the Congress has been ascertained. The results of this survey were interpreted in three ways. About 70 MLAs have been placed in the first phase. Of these, 44 have been predicted to win. The report of 26 MLAs is disappointing.
According to KK Mishra, PCC Media Cell Head, “there are bright possibilities of forming the Congress government in MP. Kamal Nath ji will make full use of this opportunity with the cooperation of all the leaders. All the leaders who are likely to win are included in their list. Appropriate decision will be taken at the appropriate time in the interest of the party”.
