Chhattisgarh is committed to promote tourism across the state, Mahasamund MLA Sevanlal Chandrakar said on Saturday.
The state has vast tourism potential mainly for eco-tourism, he said after flagging off the 'Tour De Sirpur' cycle rally.
Such bicycle tours will help promote both tourism and health, he added.
Chandrakar also took part in the first leg by cycling along with the participants till Bemcha, the first halt. District Collector Nileshkumar Kshirsagar, his wife Dr Pallavi, both sons Shravya and Chiranjeev also participated.
The Raipur cycling team which started from Telibandha joined the group at Van Chetna Kendra at Kodar in Mahasamund.
Mahasamund Superintendent of Police Vivek Shukla and Chief Executive Officer Zila Panchayat S. Alok and other senior officers also participated. The trip ended at Laxman Temple at Sirpur.
The MLA said the state has forests, mountains, rivers and reservoirs besides historical and archeological sites.
The government policy also promotes village tourism, he said.
