Kin of two deceased outsourced MCC employees handed over cheques of 2.5 lacs each
Chandigarh: Mayor Sarbjit Kaur and Anindita Mitra, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh handed over cheques of Rs. 2.5 lacs each to the kin of two deceased outsourced MCC employees for death due to natural causes, as insurance cover provided by the Punjab and Sind Bank. Recently, two employees of sanitation wing, MCC passed away due to natural causes namely Vikas and Sajjan Singh. The cheques were given to the nominees of these employees. The Commissioner said that this was the first of its kind death cover of insurance provided by the Bank without payment of premium either by the MCC or the beneficiary. She said that this was made possible only with the insurance scheme of all employees of MCC on their salary accounts @ Rs. 40 lacs for accidental death to families of deceased. She said that this mega beneficiary scheme for MCC employees, conceived in collaboration with Punjab & Sind Bank, was launched recently. Aiming to provide such exhaustive insurance coverage to about 10500 employees working in the Municipal Corporation and their families noble initiative, which has offered such huge benefit to all MCC employees.
Chd police beef up security in view of New Year celebrations
Chandigarh: In view of New Year celebrations, Chandigarh Police have beefed up security in the city with the deployment of additional forces. UT Police said that the New Year is celebrated at various places in the city and people also from neighboring states come to Chandigarh to celebrate New Year. Keeping in view the prevailing security scenario and the enthusiasm of people regarding the celebration of New Year in the city, proper law and order, security and traffic arrangements have been made.
Slight increase in minimum temperatures in parts of Haryana, Punjab
Chandigarh: The minimum temperature on Friday registered a slight increase in parts of Haryana and Punjab, providing some respite to the people from severe cold weather conditions. However, fog enveloped many parts of both states, thus reducing visibility in the morning. According to the MeT Department’s weather report, Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature of 10.3 degrees Celsius. In Haryana, Karnal registered a low of 9.2 degrees Celsius, Narnaul 9.5 degrees Celsius, Ambala 10.8 degrees Celsius, Sirsa 9.2 degrees Celsius, while Rohtak recorded a minimum temperature of 12.2 degrees Celsius. In Punjab, Mohali recorded a low of 11.1 degrees Celsius, Muktsar 10 degrees Celsius, Jalandhar 10.8 degrees Celsius while Ludhiana recorded a minimum of 8.4 degrees Celsius and Patiala’s low settled at 8 degrees Celsius. However, Bathinda and Amritsar experienced cold weather, recording respective minimum temperatures of 5 degrees Celsius and 6.4 degrees Celsius.
Punjab Industry Dept offers last opportunity to industrial units
Chandigarh: Punjab Industry Department has offered last opportunity to the industrial units for disbursement of Investment Incentive or Capital Subsidy sanctioned to the General Category Industrial Units. A Spokesperson said that the guidelines for disbursement of Investment Incentive or Capital Subsidy sanctioned to the General Category Industrial Units from time to time under various industrial policies — that is 1978, 1987, 1989, 1992, 1996, and 2003, had been issued by Punjab Government. These guidelines are available on the website (www.pbindustries.gov.in) of the Industries Department. “In this regard, last opportunity to the industrial units, which found themselves eligible and entitled as per the said guidelines, sanctioned under the old industrial policies is given, so they can submit their request through department’s e-mail (br.incentive@gmail.com) or through the concerned General Manager, District Industries Center. The industrial units will be considered as per seniority list or guidelines, which will submit their request till February 28, 2023, the requests received thereafter, will not be entertained or considered,” added the spokesperson.
Delegations and general public congratulate Himchal CM
Shimla: Delegations and the general public from different parts of the State called on Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and congratulated him on becoming the Chief Minister of the State. A delegation of Banjar led by MLA Kullu Sunder Singh Thakur honoured the Chief Minister by presenting him with a Himachali cap and shawl. It also apprised the Chief Minister of various developmental needs of the area and invited him to visit the assembly constituency. Delegations from Barsar and Galore area of Hamirpur district also met the Chief Minister and congratulated him. Another delegation of Municipal Corporation Solan also called on Sukhu and apprised him about various issues pertaining to functioning of the Corporation.
