At Bokaro Collectorate, Deputy Commissioner Kuldeep Chaudhary held a review meeting on Monday to review the progress of the works being done at Bokaro Airport. In the meeting, MLA Biranchi Narayan, Additional Collector Sadat Anwar, Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) representative P.K. Swan, Priyanka Sharma of Airport Authority of India (AAI) etc were present. The purpose of the meeting was to have joint efforts in all possible ways to make Bokaro Airport speedy operational. It is noteworthy that recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi renewed the hopes of Bokaro residents about the promise of operationalisation of the airport in the city for the public. While inaugurating the Deoghar airport, he said the Centre would soon make the airports located at Bokaro and Dumka functional.
The DC, Bokaro, sequentially inquired about the ongoing work to start Bokaro airport operations. He asked the representatives of BSL and AAI to speed up the work being carried out in coordination with each other and complete it by stipulating a fixed time. Necessary guidelines were also given regarding the felling of trees in the airport premises. DC & Legislator both said that 1732 trees have to be removed, for which NOC has been received already from the Forest Division and asked all the concerned officials to take prompt action so that Airport is ready in terms of obtaining License from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) . MLA Biranchi Narayan, who was present in the meeting, said that it is the dream of the people of Bokaro that air service should start soon. Many works have been completed in this direction, many works are in progress. The legislator emphasized all to complete concern tasks by setting deadlines so that long awaited dream of Bokaro citizens comes true.
Chaudhary and Narayan, including other officials, also inspected Bokaro airport and took stock of the work done by the officials of the Airport Authority of India. They inspected the airport premises including all vital areas and gave necessary directions to all the concerned officials. During this joint visit Depot Manager, Forest Division Officer, BSL Officer etc were present to review the actual status of getting Airport operational at ground level.
