A Mega Walkathon was organised by Brahmanand Narayan Multispeciality Hospital on World Heart Day.
People in large numbers took part enthusiastically. The walkathon started from JRD Tata Sports Complex (near Modi Park) at 6.30 am and culminated back to Modi Park via Strait Mile Road, Sakchi Main Circle, Jubilee Park Road (Red Cross Society).
The walkathon was inaugurated by renowned cardiac surgeon Dr Parvez Alam, Senior Cardiologist Dr Ajay Agarwal, Dr Abhay Krishna, Medical Superintendent Dr Mukesh Kumar, Clinical Director Dr ML Ali, First Indian Woman Boxing Coach Taruna Mishra and Hospital's Facility Director Vineet Raj.
Dr Parvez Alam said that we should include walking in our lifestyle so that we can keep our heart healthy. On the other hand, Dr Ajay Agarwal told that every year on World Heart Day, a symbolic walkathon is organized by the hospital, whose aim is to add walking (jogging) to our lifestyle. Dr. Abhay Krishna gave the message of leading an active lifestyle to keep the heart healthy. Dr. ML Ali and Dr. Mukesh Kumar and Dr. Santosh Gupta also addressed the public and advised the heart to be healthy. Vineet Raj, Facility Director, BNMH said that the people of Jamshedpur are very health conscious and through this walkathon the main objective is to create awareness among the people about the causes and prevention of heart diseases.
