One of India’s leading public sector bank Bank of Baroda, today announced that the Bank is organising a Mega Kisan Mela 2022 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday as a part of the 5th Edition of the Baroda Kisan Pakhwada, an annual farmer outreach programme. During the two-week agri festival, the Bank’s network of 271 semi-urban and rural branches in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarhthat predominantly serve the agri customer segment are actively participating in ‘Baroda Kisan Pakhwada’ and the Bank is aiming to connect with over 25,000 farmers in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
‘Baroda Kisan Pakhwada’ has been designed to help the Bank boost engagement with the farming community and create awareness about various agri products, schemes & delivery channels offered by Bank of Baroda and initiatives taken by the Government for the benefit of farmers.
The Mega Kisan Mela in Jabalpurwas inaugurated byShri Rajesh Malhotra, Chief General Manager (Retail Assets, MSME and Rural & Agri Banking), Bank of Baroda and Girish Dalakoti, General Manager & Zonal Head (Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh), Bank of Baroda.The Mela is organized with participation of over 500 farmers from the districts of Jabalpur, Katni, Narsinghpur, and Panna.
In this year’s Baroda Kisan Pakhwada,the Bank is organising more than 760 eventssuch as farmer meets, choupals, soil testing camps, animal health checkup camps and will reach out to over 25,000 farmers in Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh. Till date, in this year’s Baroda Kisan Pakhwada, the Bank has sanctioned over Rs 101.00 crore under various schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Rajesh Malhotra, Chief General Manager - Retail Assets, MSME and Rural Banking & Agri Banking, Bank of Barodasaid, “Agriculture is an important sector in Madhya Pradesh &Chhattisgarh, generating employment and providing livelihoods to a large number of people. We at Bank of Baroda are pleased to organize this Mega Kisan Mela in Jabalpur. Through this farmer meet, our aim is to reach out to the farming community and provide details and assistance on the various types of agri loans and banking services available as well as the various agri initiatives launched by the Government. This will enable our farmer customers to get the right assistance when required, helping them to grow their income.”
In Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Bank of Baroda has 271 semi-urban/rural branches. Advances to the agriculture sectorin Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh have grown to over Rs 5,600 crore as on September 30, 2022. Under Agriculture advances, the Baroda Kisan Credit Card and Lending to Self Help Groups (SHG) are the key growth sectors.
