The agitation for a permanent Bench of the Orissa High Court at Balangir would be resumed with on third Thursday of each month all local Government offices being closed and dharna being held before the district Collectorate.
This was announced to media by Balangir Bar Association president Amarish Tripathy after an association meeting on Wednesday, which was attended by different sections, including political parties and Chamber of Commerce.
The Balangir Action Committee will spearhead the agitations said Tripathy.
Action Committee convener Gopalji Panigrahi said, “Prior to 1948, a High Court was functioning at Balangir in the former Princely Patna State. We demand establishment of a High Court Bench here.”
