A 7-year-old boy died after he came in contact with wires carrying current at a park in Nehru Nagar; the boy was on his way to Ganesh pandal during the ongoing Ganesha festival.
The deceased Mohit Gajwani declared dead when he was taken to hospital.
Mohit was electrocuted on Tuesday while going to the Ganesh pandal while last rites were performed on Wednesday.
On Tuesday night, Mohit was going to Ganesh Pandal located in D Sector of Ward 29. There was current in the electric pole at the main gate of the park and due to this the current also spread in the earthing wire. As soon as he touched the earthing wire, he was electrocuted which caused his death.
He was the lone child of his parents. Alleging negligence of the power company, people had created a ruckus in the night.
The postmortem of Mohit's body was done on Wednesday morning at Hamidia Hospital.
Mohit's father Sunil told that on Tuesday night the son worship Lord Ganesh at home. After this sweets(prasad) was distributed in the neighbourhood. After a while, he said that he would visit Ganesh pandal in the garden and left the house. After 10 minutes he was found stuck with the wire of the electric pole near the gate of the garden.
There are still many wires lying in the open in the park. On Wednesday afternoon, people surrounded the ward in-charge Rajesh Makoriya and told him a lot.
After the accident, the power company covered the open wire from all sides.
