Overall 63 % voters used their voting rights on 14 May of the first phase of five blocks of Hazaribag
district. In the first phase of election the polling will be in the Choparan Barhi, Barkatha, Chalkusa
and Padma blocks of the district. In Padma block a group of villagers threw stones at the Circle
Officer of the block. The police force reached there immediately and controlled the situation.
Hazaribag deputy commissioner Nancy Sahay said that 63 per cent of voters used their voting rights
in the first phase. Maximum voters came out to vote in Choparan and Barhi Block. It is near 70 to 75
per cent. In barkatha and Chalkusa block the per cent was near to 63 per cent. In Padma block the
per cent was 60.
In the village Donai Kala of Padma block booth no. 41,42,43 and 44 some of the villagers were
present in a group near the booths. When the Circle Officer of Padma reached towards the group,
the villagers started pelting stones on the officers.
As the information reached the control room the police force along with police officers reached
there and controlled the situation. The police force started to search the persons who were in the
group.
The deputy commissioner said that polling was conducted peacefully in all the five blocks. The DC
and SP Manoj Rattan Chothey visited the polling booths from time to time during polling hours.
