The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has recently sanctioned Rs 224 crore for construction of three flyovers and seven underpasses on NH16 from Sorala to Puintola , Brahmapur MP Chandrasekhar Sahu informed at Chhatrapur on Tuesday.
At present, the road extension on NH16 is going on from Narayani Chhak to Puintola on Bhubaneswar side, but this is not done from Puintola to Sorala. Road accidents and deaths have been on the rise on this stretch of the road due to absence of flyovers and underpasses.
The proposed flyovers will be constructed on the outskirts of Lanjipalli, Pokadi Bandha and Chhatrapur DRDA Chhaka. Similarly, the proposed underpasses will be constructed at Bhairabi, Randha, Sorala, Kanishi, Haldiapadar and Mandiapalli. A DPR has already been prepared for this.
MP Sahu has also informed that the work will begin from December this year. It is planned to construct a special road from Chhatrapur DRDA Chhak to Gopalpur port. Chhatrapur MLA Subash Chandra Behera was present.
