2 held with 25 kg ganja at Gaya railway stn

A team of Railway Protection Force (RPF),Gaya on Sunday arrested two persons and seized nearly 25.9 Kg of ganja from Hatia-Islampur Express at Gaya railway station, said RPF Inspector Ajay Prakash. The ganga wa seized as RPF police were on regular checking in train. The train was checked by RPF officials of Gaya at platform no-6.The said consignment was brought from Rourkela (Orissa), Ajay Prakash added.

RPF Gaya sources said that on Sunday, during regular checking, at 3.12 am , 2 persons were seen alighting from train no. 18624 Hatia-Islampur express from GS coach and were carrying one shoulder bag and a brown colour heavy trolley suitcase.

The very appearance of passengers and new heavy luggage suitcase created suspicion and they were checked, said RPF Inspector.

He said that the shoulder bag contained one big sealed packet with tape which further raised the suspicion and the apprehended persons were brought to RPF post Gaya. There after following due procedure as laid down in NDPS Act search was made and 25.9 Kg of ganja kept in sealed packets were recovered.

The suspected persons disclosed their names as Bharat Kumar Singh son of Lallan Singh, belonging to Kudra of Kaimur district. While other has been identified as Anjani Pandey son of Nardeshwar Pandey of Sasaram in Rohtas district.

RPF Inspector said that the value of the seized consignment has been assessed approx. Rs 1,90,800. They were handed over to GRP Gaya where in a case vide CR no.13/22 u/s 8/ 20 (b) 2(c) NDPS Act. While matter was also informed NCB, Gaya and they are also interrogating the accused.

RPF Inspector Ajay Prakash said that earlier on January 4 at Gaya railway junction while checking the suspected persons at around 3.00 am , on arrival of train no. 18624 Hatia-Islampur at platform number 6 one person namely Govind Kumar was detained by the RPF team and from his possession one bag containing 7 packets of ganja weighing 2 kgs each, total weight 14 kgs valued approx. Rs 1,26,000/-  was recovered.
