2 held for assembling firearms

A joint team of police and forest personnel on Sunday nabbed two persons for running an illegal gun manufacturing unit in the Nilgiri area of Baleswar district.

 

The arrested duo was identified as Rabi Singh (30) and Rabindra Singh (38), both residents of Hathigolia village under Nilgiri police station.

 

Police also seized some machines and equipments used for manufacturing arms. Even some partially assembled firearms were found.

 

Acting on a tipoff, the Nilagiri police led by the SDPO carried out the raid.

 

The accused duo were booked under Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act and forwarded to court.

 

Police and locals suspect the manufacturing unit was used manufacture guns to be used for poaching wildlife.
