As a further initiative to provide a comfortable and better rail travel experience to the passengers, it has been decided to install one coach each in advanced and state-of-the-art air-conditioned third economy class in 12 pairs of trains of East Central Railway originating from Patna and Rajendranagar Terminal.
This facility will be restored in 13237/13238 and 13239/13240 Patna-Kota-Patna Express, 12393/12394 Rajendranagar Terminal - New Delhi - Rajendranagar Terminal Sampoorna Kranti Express, 22351/22352 Patliputra - SMBT Bengaluru - Patliputra Express, Patliputra-Chandigarh-Patliputra Express, 12355/12356 in Patna-Jammutavi-Patna Archana Express, 13201/13202 Patna - Lokmanya Tilak Terminus.
Similarly, 12395/12396 Rajendranagar Terminal-Ajmer-Rajendranagar Terminal, 13282/13281 Rajendranagar Terminal-Dibrugarh-Rajendranagar Terminal, 13246/13245 Rajendranagar Terminal-New Jalpaiguri-Rajendranagar Terminal, 13248/13247 Rajendranagar Terminal-Kamakhya-Rajendranagar Terminal, 13242/13241 Rajendranagar Terminal-Banka-Rajendranagar Terminal and 13288/13287 Rajendranagar Terminal-Durg-Rajendranagar will have the AC 3 Tier economy coach.
The fare for the new AC Third Class Economy is about eight per cent less than the regular AC Third Class. The base fare of new AC III Economy class as compared to AC III class has been kept at 2.4 times the sleeper class fare of Mail/Express trains. Whereas the base fare of existing air-conditioned third class is 2.6 times of sleeper class fare.
Air conditioned class III economy is equipped with modern amenities, which include easy entrance, personal reading light, illuminated berth indicators, convenient ladder to climb to the upper berth and special snack table for food and drink, Divyang friendly toilet, for fire safety. World class standards have been provided. The number of berths in AC III Economy class is more as compared to existing AC III class coaches. Its objective is to provide comfortable travel facilities to the common people at an affordable rate.
