The coalminers are eagerly waiting for the outcome of the JBCCI meeting that is to be held on September 28 in Ranchi. The eagerness can be understood as Durga Puja has begun and hundreds of miners wait for the bonus that they usually used to get ahead of puja.
Last year the bonus amount was Rs 72,500 thus it's hoped that it would be higher this year.
The four central trade unions and company authorities would be meeting at CCL for discussions on Wednesday.
Trade union RCMS has demanded Rs 1.5 lakhs as bonus for coal workers and that too be paid ahead of Durga puja within the current month itself.
In a joint statement RCMS working president BPSingh and its general secretary AK Jha have said that even if wage board negotiation on this issue is delayed the coal miners of CIL besides SAIL other coal mining companies must be awarded the aforementioned amount as bonus keeping in view the price rise conditions.
The unwillingness of CIL and other companies to dole out money is against the interest of miners, they said.
RCMS is affiliated to the central trade union INTUC and this central trade union is not part of wage negotiation body JBCCI .
