The Congress would provide 200 units free electricity if voted to power in the 2024 elections. Besides there would be a lot more social security and welfare schemes benefiting all sections including woman, youth and senior citizen, said State Congress president Sarat Pattanayak while addressing a gathering here at ITI field during its ‘Jan Sampark Abhiyan’ of the party on Wednesday.
Pattnayak asserted that Congress fulfills what it commits. In Baleswar, several industries came up in the nineties during the regime of then Chief Minister JB Patnaik. Buy today several of them have been closed including large scale industries like Birla Tyres and Balasore Alloys as they went sick and workers are jobless, he said.
He further claimed that major institutions were established during Congress MP period included CIPET, AIIMS and Nocci business park etc in Baleswar. However targeting the BJD Government, he said the incumbent Government in power for 24 years has not established even a needle factory in the district.
The Subarnarekha port , about which the Government boasts, undermines the interest of Baliapal as they would lose fertile land forever, Pattanayak said.
He besides stating that some of their leaders in the hunger for power have deserted Congress appealed them to return home. He appealed to the voters not to sell their votes at Rs 500 each, around Rs 28 paise daily during elections, which the beggar even won’t accept.
"We will rise from 9 to 90 in the Assembly, that is why the Jan Sampark Abhijyan is undertaken and workers should go to the people and strengthen the base of the party," he maintained.
Pattanayak further pointing out the deteriorating law and order situation of Baleswar also demanded for establishment of an agriculture college and research centre and Revenue Commissioner office in the district.
Many senior party leaders of the district were present.
